SUMMARY:Open House - University of Bath
DESCRIPTION:We at the SWDTP love connecting with our community and what better way than to come straight to you! The purpose of this meet-up is for students to have the chance to come and speak directly with the SWDTP team\, it need not be a PhD or academic-related discussion either\, we always love to simply see how our students are doing and help them in any way we can. \nIf you’d like to book a meeting with one of us\, please do drop us an email. You can find our profiles and contact details on the Meet the Team page of our website. And don’t forget\, you don’t have to have a specific request to come along. If you’d like a catch-up and a coffee (on us)\, we’d love to see you!\n\nLocation details to follow.

SUMMARY:SWDTP Pathway Leads and Institutional Stakeholders Forum 2024
DESCRIPTION:The 2024 intake of SWDTP students is the first cohort to follow the most recently revised ESRC training guidelines. With contribution from academic and professional services colleagues across our partner institutions\, we have now introduced new processes and components that students must engage with. We must also continue to have conversations across the Partnership in order to improve and enhance what we can offer – for students\, for colleagues in all our respective roles and capacities\, and for wider PGR communities. \nThrough the Pathway Leads and Institutional Stakeholders Forum\, we hope to bring together colleagues – institutional academic leads\, pathway leads\, coordinators\, supervisors\, board members and the hub team – for a day of constructive dialogues. We will explain new processes\, share experiences\, exchange best practices\, strengthen networks\, and seek ways to foster greater collaboration across the Partnership. \nObjectives for the Day \n\nHear your views and share experiences on current SWDTP Pathways\nReview the SWDTP recruitment process\nReview the Development Needs Analysis processes and requirements\nReview “Research in Practice” placement component\nExchange experiences and explore opportunities around supervisor training\nHear your views on collaboration across the Partnership can support your role\nMeet colleagues from within and across pathways and institutions\nFind out more about academic-led training and collaboration funding pots

SUMMARY:Sandboxing: Qualitative Interviewing with Sand\, Objects\, and Figures
DESCRIPTION:The sandboxing method was developed from the tradition of play therapy\, specifically the World Technique\, where children create three dimensional scenes\, pictures\, or abstract designs with a range of miniature\, realistic and fantasy\, figures and everyday objects in a tray filled with sand. \nSandboxing adapts this therapeutic practice as a distinctive tool of qualitative data generation with children\, young people\, and adults who create sand scenes and discuss their metaphorical meanings in elicitation interviews. \nThis Bristol Conversations workshop explains the development of the sandboxing technique\, and reflects on the affordances\, limitations and ethical considerations of sandboxing. The workshop also offers an opportunity for attendees to engage with sandboxing materials\, and consider if they could adopt sandboxing for their own research and practice. \nThis event is hosted by the School of Education of The University of Bristol. Please contact them directly if you have any queries.
