Pathway available at Bath, Bristol and Exeter
The Politics and International Relations pathway of the SWDTP welcomes applications that speak to the broad research interests of academic staff at the Pathway’s three partner universities: Bath, Bristol and Exeter. As disciplines, Politics and International Relations offer significant scope for to propose exciting and innovative projects. The three departments strive to be broad and welcoming. Our departments are home to a diverse range of inter-disciplinary, topical, and multi-methods researchers whose work covers a wide array of theoretical, conceptual, empirical and methodological domains. We welcome applications across all methodological orientations, ranging from pure theory or philosophical approaches to qualitative approaches to quantitative approaches (e.g., experiments and computational social science).
Your proposed project will have the potential to make a genuine contribution to the literature in these fields. Applications are especially welcome on topics focusing on the latest advances in the field, covering a broad range of ideas. Proposals may focus on questions and topics in such areas as: political and IR theory, non-Western IR, feminism and decolonialization, political behaviour, political institutions, public policy, comparative politics, conflict processes and foreign policy analysis, social media and misinformation, the climate crisis, culture wars and identity conflicts, quantitative methodologies, and the future of the global peace. This list is broad but nonetheless incomplete — there is likely scope for your interests.
Methodological and conceptual innovation, supervisory fit, past academic excellence, and the overall feasibility of the project are some of the key criteria according to which we will assess your application.
