We can’t wait to welcome the new cohort of SWDTP Students tomorrow! The SWDTP community is exciting, cohesive and full of opportunities. We’re looking forward to sharing some of the opportunities available to you and introducing the student-led initiatives that make the this such a vibrant and exciting training partnership.
If you’re new to the DTP, here’s a couple of things you may want to do, if you haven’t already!
1) Explore the website
There’s plenty of information on our website. Head over to the Information for Current Students page to access the SWDTP and ESRC Handbooks. Or you could check out our Student Initiatives page to see some of the great student-led activities already thriving within the DTP. Alternatively, you could read some of our Students’ Blogs, browse the Student Publications page, or read about some of the good news stories on the Student Showcase page. There really is loads of great stuff and we’re excited to start adding your ideas, initiatives and achievements!
2) Sign up for an SWDTP Student Mentor
When moving on to a new chapter of your life, you may be looking for a bit of guidance or reassurance. At the SWDTP, we run a Student Mentoring Programme where you can be paired-up with a current SWDTP Student who can offer support and real experience, as well as a friendly face. The programme has been very successful in the past, and our new mentors are excited to meet you! If you’ve not already signed up to the scheme, but you’d like to, you can sign up at the Induction Event, or email our Lead Mentor- Maike– to express your interest.
3) Subscribe to our Newsletter
Our monthly SWDTP newsletter compiles all the latest goings-on around the DTP including training and placement opportunities; news stories and events at all five sites. You won’t automatically be added to the mailing list, so if you’d like to receive September’s issue, you must subscribe! You can see previous issues here. Once you’re up and running, don’t forget to let Rob and Jackson know of any interesting activities as we love reporting on our students’ successes!
4) Follow us on Twitter!
Finally, follow us on Twitter for live updates, student promotion and, of course, gifs! It’s another way of staying up to date with all the latest news and opportunities, so make sure you follow us (@_SWDTP) and let us know your handle so we can follow you back!
