We are pleased to support academics across our Partnership in running activities that contribute to researcher development.
Researcher Development Fund
Any academic colleague employed by one of our Partner Institutions can apply to our Researcher Development fund. The Fund is awarded to activities that demonstrate they support development in both of the following areas:
Higher level training
Higher level training is in addition to core training covered in Masters-levels research methods units. It focuses on specific methods or methodological approaches and is primarily targeted at PGRs who plan to use these in their doctoral research. Higher level training will usually be relevant to researchers working across different subject science disciplines.
Research in Practice
Research in Practice supports a student’s ability to apply their research skills in a variety of contexts, to collaborate and exchange knowledge across disciplines and with non-academic practitioners, to communicate impact, and to develop professional networks.
Proposed activities can take a wide variety of formats, including but not limited to: master classes, special lectures, seminars, workshops, mini conferences – we encourage you to think innovatively about how you could fulfil the above objectives.
Applying to the Fund
The Researcher Development fund is open to applications on a rolling basis and awards up to £1,000.
The lead applicant is expected to identify and include academic collaborators based in a different SWDTP pathway or partner institution to them. This encourages knowledge transfer across a wider range of the Partnership. Further guidance and conditions can be found in the application form.
Please get in touch with Jonathan Chow to discuss your idea in the first instance.
