The SWDTP runs an annual competition for ESRC-funded post-doctoral fellowships (PDFs) that are held at one of partner institutions and associated with a pathway. The PDFs last for one year (or 2 years part-time).
The scheme is highly competitive. We expect to only have a total of 4 PDFs to offer in each year from 2025 to 2029. To manage demand, our partner institutions run an internal competition at the expression of interest stage and selects 1-4 (depending on how many pathways they host) applicants to put forward to the main competition.
Each year the call comes out around early January. Partner institutions set their own deadlines for the call of expressions. The competition is open to applicants, who completed their doctorate at any UK university, not just SWDTP universities.
