Depth Ontologies and Causal Powers: Critical Realism Educational Research

In the field of educational research, the interplay between depth, ontologies, and causal powers is a topic of profound significance. This event will delve into the philosophical underpinnings of critical realism, a robust framework that challenges conventional assumptions about reality and knowledge and looks at how it is being applied in current research.

This day long symposium is organised by, and aimed at, PGRs and ECRs. It will include:

• keynote talks from Prof. Leon Tikly (University of Bristol) and Dr. Kris Stuchbury (Open University),
• presentations from PGRs using CR in their research,
• an expert panel discussion featuring academics from the south west to close the day,
• several chances to network over refreshments and lunch, which will be provided.
