The placement would be focused on the Model COP event. First held in 2021, Model COP is a one day event that mirrors the themes and structure of the UN’s Conference of the Parties, and particularly the Climate Change and Biological Diversity COPs. It is delivered as part of Kew’s Youth Programme.
The event engages young people aged 14–18 in exploring how change happens at an international level and provides an opportunity to develop complexity and critical thinking in relation to the climate and biodiversity crisis. Young people from across London join participants on Kew’s Youth Programme to take on the roles of delegates and key stakeholders, debating and making decisions on climate change, conservation and biodiversity loss, before voting on resolutions they have developed.
This placement will work alongside the Youth Programme Manager and the Youth Team to contribute to Kew’s objectives by supporting innovative youth engagement, education, and climate literacy initiatives.
