Research topic: Immigration and Institutions
I have analysed topics on immigration, both theoretically and empirically. In my dissertation, I have analysed topics on immigration, both theoretically and empirically. In the theoretical paper, we show how an institution which is initially favourable to workers, later benefits only a narrow economic and political elite and we show this using the European Union’s Free Movement of Persons. In the empirical paper, we try to analyse whether the introduction of the Academies Act in 2010 has had any effect on immigration to England (we specifically consider the North West region of England) as opposed to Wales where the Act was not introduced.
